Dynamic Chabot basketball forward Jordan McGlory, who led the Gladiators with 13.7 points and 7.5 rebounds a game in the 2018-19 season, signed on Friday with Division II Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.
McGlory, a 6-foot-4 James Logan High graduate, played one season at Chabot after transferring from Cal State East Bay. An Coast Conference-North selection and a solid student with a 3.1 GPA, McGlory also considered offers from Colorado Christian and Western Washington.
McGlory had 25 points and 10 rebounds in Chabot's 87-66 win over San Jose 87-66 last season. He also starred at James Logan, helping the Colts advance to the CIF Division I State Championship game in 2017.
Black Hills State, which competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, had an 18-11 record in the 2018-19 season. Chabot coach Keenan McMiller thnks McGlory will be a great fit with the Yellow Jackets.
"Good conference, very competitive. They had a pretty decent year last year," McMiller said. "Jordan likes the energy the coaching staff has given him, and their style of play. They really expect him to come in and do some big things, the same things he did for us last year."
McGlory's rise to the next level fits well with the McMiller's approach in his rapidly emerging program in the state.
"The biggest thing for us is getting guys moved on to the next level. That hasn't happened in a couple years here, so it's already a huge plus moving forward with the program," McMiller said.
