No. 15 Glads Keep Rolling
The Chabot men's basketball team walloped three opponents last week to remain unbeaten in nonconference play.
The Glads (6-0), ranked 15th in the state preseason poll, beat Monterey Peninsula 90-76, Siskiyous 78-41, and Lassen 95-65, the ladder two wins in the 7th annual ARC Classic.
Malik Merchant had an outstanding effort against Monterey with a team-high 25 points, going an uncanny 7 for 9 from 3-point range. Amani Johnson had 17 points and nine assists. Zion Yeargin had 16 points (6-9 FG).
The sophomore Yeargin is off to a scintillating start, averaging 20.2 points a game and ranking fifth in the state with 121 points. Johnson, a sophomore guard, is averaging 15.7 points, tied for 23rd in CA, and six rebounds a game
In the ARC Classic, the Glads were in complete command as Johnson, with 21 points, Yeargin (20), Stroud (14) and Merchant (12) all had double-digit scoring.
Chabot also had good balance against Siskiyous. Yeargin, with 18 points, Kamari King (11), Cayden Kelly (10) and Domonique Trotter (8) all had strong games.
The Glads will look to keep it rolling at Modesto Junior College Tuesday night at 7.
