Chabot runner Nico Melendres (Moreau Catholic) prevailed in the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.25 at the Occidental Invitational in a field composed of mostly four-year college athletes. That time is nearly a 1 second improvement on the previous state-leading mark. 
Next, the Gladiators travel to the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State on Saturday, March 19.
