On Oct. 16, Chabot fell to state No. 1 Fresno City 42-12 in a dual match, but the Glads had some solid performances.
Jackson Morgan, at 157 pounds, and Alamazbekov Abdymanap (285) won their matches. Abdullah Noori (125) had a close defeat, scoring the first takedown and remaining in the lead most of the match.
Fazal Mohammed (184) scored a last-second takedown at the end of the third period, forcing overtime.
On Oct. 19, Chabot took fifth place in the North Duals tournament, a qualifying event for the California Dual State Championships. In the quarterfinals, Chabot fell to third-place Santa Rosa 41-12. Morgan (157) and Felipe Legaspi (165) both pinned their opponents. Azim Azimy (141) and Mohammad (174) had close defeats.
In Consolation Round 3, Chabot won a thriller over Lassen 27-25. Abdullah Noori (125), Morgan (157) and Alamazbekov Abdymanap (195) all won by technical fall. Legaspi (165 lbs) and Mohammed (174 lbs) pinned their opponents.
In the Consolation Semifinals, Chabot fell to Modesto 27-25. In a notable match, Mohammed (174) defeated a Modesto wrestler ranked 7th in the state.
In the 5th-place dual, Chabot beat Sierra College 32-21. Esmatullah Sultani (149), Morgan (157), Legaspi (165), Francisco Espinoza (184) and Almazbekov Abdymanap (197) won by pin. Mohammad (174) won by technical fall.
The Gladiators will host Skyline in a dual on Wednesday, Oct. 30, beginning at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium.
