A TIE WITH FLAIR
The opponent had good pace, but the Chabot women's soccer team kept up just fine and earned a notable result.
The Gladiators collected a 2-2 draw with tough Los Medanos on Friday, Sept. 19 at Chabot.
"Really good game. Happy with how we played," Chabot head coach Dan Chubbock said.
The coach thought LMC probably had the edge overall in the first half, but a nice corner kick by Alekxa Gonzalez-Serrano was headed in by Keyla Ramirez to give Chabot (4-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute. The clutch header marked her second goal in two matches. However, Los Medanos tied it 1-1 early in the second half on a goal by Judd Addison.
"We were missing, Sisi (Sabrina) Perez and (Elysa Peña) through injury, but managed to put in a great performance against a really pacy LMC," Chubbock said. "They scored early in the second half, but we moved the ball around really well and looked sharp, and we were solid defensively. Julie (Lemoine) and Ny (Nyarah Anderson-Brown) were rock solid!"
Abigail Lopez scored to give Chabot a 2-1 lead in the 59th minute after some great passing with Elizabeth Tapia, who had the assist. LMC equalized about minute later on a goal by Tatiana Diaz from outside the box.
"Good game. Result is good too, and hopefully we take this form into American River College and Woodland this week," Chubbock said.
Chabot will host ARC at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and travel to Woodland on Friday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m.
