Women's Soccer Recap
All things considered, the Chabot women's soccer team had a good result in a 2-2 draw with visiting Foothill in a cross-conference battle on Friday, Oct. 3.
The Glads (0-0-2), who opened conference play with 1-1 draw against Las Positas on Sept. 30 in Hayward, finished the match against the Owls with only 10 on the field after a red card in the 53rd minute. Still, Chabot battled hard during a wild second half as the teams combined for four goals.
"We were down to 10 players, but worked very hard to keep in the game," Chabot head coach Dan Chubbock said.
The Glads led 1-0 on a goal by Kiana Ayllon assisted by Abigail Lopez in the 49th minute.
Foothill tied it 1-1 in the 55th minute on a goal by Judy Demirkol. She scored on a penalty kick after an intentional handball precipitated the red card. Playing 10 vs. 11, the Glads still retook the lead on a goal by Keyla Ramirez assisted by Lopez. She crossed the ball, the goalkeeper dropped it, and Ramirez was there for the rebound.
Demirkol's second goal tied it 2-2 in the 70th minute.
"Foothill was a good side and the game was a real battle," Chubbock said. "We, of course, wanted the win, but with 10 players against a hard-working team like them, a draw is a good result in the circumstances."
