Chabot Strong In Defeat
November 13, 2025
The Chabot women's soccer team stood toe-to-toe with a state power last week, and showed how far the Glads program has come under head coach Dan Chubbock.
Chubbock, hired at Chabot in March 2023, saw his team battle Hartnell evenly on the scoresheet for a half in a 4-2 defeat in the Coast-North on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Hartnell (11-4-3, 8-1-1) is No. 11 in the CCCSIA State Rankings, but Chabot (9-5-4, 4-3-3) is opening some eyes in the region.
"We showed that we can compete with the top teams in the state, and hopefully that gives us confidence going into the final conference game at West Valley (Friday)," Chubbock said.
During a lively first half, the host Glads led 1-0 in the 24th minute on a goal by scoring dynamo Kiana Ayllon assisted by Abigail Lopez. But the Panthers evened the score two minutes later, and then led 2-1 after a goal in the 40th minute.
Two minutes later, Chabot tied it on Ayllon's second goal, this time assisted by Yocelin Bolvito-Perez after the Glads won possession.
Ayllon is enjoying a sensational season with 18 goals and seven assists. She ranks tied for third in the state in goals scored and is fourth in total points with 43. Lopez is tied for seventh in the state in assists with 11.
Hartnell turned it up in the second half and tacked on two goals for the win.
"Second half Hartnell came out strong and we couldn't find the legs to get the win, Chubbock added.
Chabot will complete the regular season at West Valley on Friday.
