COACH MORRIS LANDS MAJOR HONOR
The awards are rolling in for the Chabot College tennis program. Head coach Rick Morris was named 2026 ITA 3C2A Men's National Coach of the Year, and two-time state singles champion Mina Koloski was selected as 2026 ITA 3C2A Women's Tennis Sophomore of the Year.
During a surreal 2026 season, Koloski was unbeaten in singles en route to a second consecutive state title, and was runner-up in doubles in the state with partner Gracie Barco.
The Chabot men's tennis team won the Coast Conference championship and played well at the state championships in Ojai.
Sergio Escobar advanced to the singles quarterfinals with three wins before falling to State No. 1 and eventual champion Philip Neuman of Irvine Valley College.
Theeran Sivakumar also had a big run reaching the Round of 16 in singles, when he fell to David Tinajero of Glendale Community College.
Gavin Jacutin, Ben Deriquito and Abhi Eedara all advanced to the Round of 16, and Ryan Chan and Theeran Sivakumar reached the Round of 32 in doubles.
