GLADS ROAR INTO REGIONAL
April 28, 2026
The Chabot baseball team was rewarded for its convincing run to a Coast Conference-North Division championship by receiving a home site for the 3C2A NorCal Regional Playoffs, which will be held at eight sites beginning Friday, each one with three teams.
The Glads (22-17-1), who have won or shared four straight conference titles, are the top seed at Steve Friend Stadium. No. 2 seed Folsom Lake will face No. 3 Cosumnes River at 11 a.m. in Game 1 on Friday, with the host Gladiators meeting the winner at 3 p.m. Friday in Game 2 in the three-day playoff. The three teams are vying to advance to the Super Regionals May 7-9.
The Glads closed the conference season in grand style last week with back-to-back road wins over College of San Mateo, 16-3, and Skyline, 10-9, and took first place by three games with a 17-3 Coast-North mark.
Juan Pablo Manzo was 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs against San Mateo. Terrell Scott Romain and Logan Kellogg both tripled. Joe Coupland and Kellogg both had two RBIs.
The game against Skyline featured a wild ninth inning as the teams combined for 11 runs. The Glads scored five times to lead 10-3 in the top of the inning. Skyline rallied with six runs, but fell short. Three Glads slugged home runs —
Jonathan Sheppard, Riley Winchell and Romain, who hit a two-run shot in the ninth.
Winchell, who is tied for fifth in the state with 12 home runs, also doubled and had three RBIs. Luca Boccasile had a two-run triple in the ninth. Sheppard was 2 for 4 with three runs scored. Evan Wahilani Yau had an RBI single single in the ninth.
