Luca Boccasile drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Chabot baseball team topped Skyline 5-4 on Friday, April 10 to sweep the showdown series.
The Glads (17-17, 12-3) lead the Coast Conference-North Division by two games over Skyline (26-9, 10-5) and College of San Mateo (22-12, 10-5).
The Glads outscored Skyline 34-22 in the series, taking the first two games 11-8 and 18-10.
In the dramatic win on Friday, two Chabot pitchers stood tall. Edward Said allowed two earned runs and struck out three over five innings, and Sean Cannon allowed two earned runs and fanned six over 5.2 innings.
Jonathan Sheppard was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
In the 11-8 win, Riley Winchell was 3 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs, and Juan Pablo Manzo was 2 for 5 with a home run. Joshua Van Loon struck out three and allowed one earned run over two innings.
Winchell entered the week tied for sixth in the state in home runs with 10.
In the 18-10 win, the Glads amassed 18 hits as Sheppard was 3 for 6 with four RBIs. Braden Spade was 3 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs. Manzo homered and had four RBIs. Coley Aney allowed two earned over five innings.
Chabot will looked to keep it rolling at home against Cañada at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.
